Elise Ann Gile, the daughter of Madison Stubbs and Dorothy Seelhoff-Stubbs, was born October 4, 1946 in Burlington, CO and passed away May 8, 2025 at Republic County Hospital at the age of 78.

Elise graduated from Burlington High School and later attended Western State College in Gunnison, CO studying Business and Education.

Elise experienced many professions in her life. While in Colorado, she worked at a dentist office, Ball Brothers Research, and was an executive secretary at the Kodak Corporation. During her time off she was a member of the Kodak co-ed softball and bowling teams. Once in Kansas, Elise became a babysitter for many families, worked at the United States Post Office and settled into her role in administration as the secretary for various businesses including USD 426/Pike Valley Schools, a law office and 21 years as the secretary of Reece Construction in Scandia, KS before retiring.

On August 16, 1975 Elise married Duane Gile and together, the two raised four boys, Chad, Kade, Jared and Luke.

Elise was very active in many groups and activities throughout her life. As a child, she took piano lessons and tap dance lessons. While in High School, she was a twirler, cheerleader, Homecoming princess her Junior Year and Homecoming Queen her Senior year. In 1962, she won a memorable 2-week trip to New York City, Niagara Falls, and Washington D.C. as part of the United Nations Pilgrimage. While living in Plainville, KS, Elise served as church secretary, taught Sunday School and was a member of the UMW. Once Elise moved to Scandia, KS she didn't stop serving her community. She served on the Scandia City Council, Amana Lutheran Church Council, Peace Parish Council, church secretary for Amana Lutheran Church, WELCA and also played organ for church services at Amana Lutheran Church. She was a member of Svenska, Sorosis, and was Den Mother for the Boy Scouts. Elise would often be found fixing meals for the entire football team while the boys were in Junior High.

Elise and Duane shared many experiences together traveling the world. They traveled to Mexico, the Caribbean, US Virgin Islands, Switzerland, France, England, Italy & Canada. She also traveled with her college girlfriends that included trips to Indianapolis, IN, Taos, NM, the Pacific Northwest, and Coeur D'Alene, ID.

Elise's greatest chapter in life was when she became a grandmother. She made sure to attend as many sporting events and school activities as she could. For two years she held "Grandma Camp" at her home in which the grandchildren would stay and do crafts, activities, eat great food and do some manual labor.

She enjoyed her friends and would always look forward to bridge club and morning walks. At 65, Elise floated down the Republican River in a paddle-boat with her close friend Sonia Raney and also rode on a motorcycle for the first time in decades.

Christmas was a special time of year, Elise could be seen setting out her Santa Claus collection and making Christmas ornaments and Nativity sets by hand that she'd share with family and friends.
