Eliseo Bianchi Obituary

Published by Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel on Apr. 7, 2018.
A wonderful son, husband, father, papa, uncle, and friend in every way, Lee's life on Earth ended after a brief illness on April 7. Lee was born on March 30, 1936, in Grimes, Iowa, to Eliseo and Josephine (Nizzi) Bianchi. He graduated from Des Moines Lincoln High School, and received a degree in civil engineering from Iowa State University where he also participated in ROTC and eventually served our country as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Reserves. After college he began working for Ringland-Johnson Construction Company in Des Moines. In 1960 he moved to Clinton, Iowa, to work for that same company, where he eventually became a partner. When he retired, Lee had worked for Ringland-Johnson for fifty years, a personal point of pride. In 1962 he married Barbara (Landolt) Bianchi, and over the next 56 years they raised two children and spoiled four grandchildren. Residents of Clinton, Iowa, for 48 years, they lived in the same home at 261 Thorwaldsen, while also enjoying time at their river property in Fulton, Illinois, where they moved in 2010. For the last seventeen years they have also wintered in Mesa, Arizona. Among his favorite community accomplishments, Lee was a longtime member and president of Clinton Kiwanis Club, YMCA Y's Men Club, and Clinton High School Band Boosters. Other accomplishments he is lesser known for in the community, but far better known for among friends and family include master Cribbage player, gifted baby-rocker, amateur actor and baritone, connoisseur of food-leftover-on-plates and wine-remaining-in-glasses, magical uncle who could blow milk out of his tear ducts, original beat boxer, devout dandelion digger, and professional dozer/snorer. Above all he will be remembered as the best husband, dad, and papa on the planet. Lee is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by Barbara, his wife of almost 56 years. His son and daughter-in-law Tony and Deb have three sons, Joe, Nick, and Brad. His daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Stan have a daughter, Savannah. His brother and sister-in-law Rudy and Pat have three children and ten grandchildren who adore their Uncle LEEEEEEEE! Anyone who knew Lee well will remember him for his kindness, warm smile, and infectious laugh. We thank you for being part of the celebration of his life.

Barbara, so very very sorry to hear about Lee. Knew he was suffering before you left Mesa. You are so fortunate to have had a wonderful life together and great memories to cherish. Lee was a great friend and neighbor while we lived across from him on Thorwaldsen in Clinton. Ron and I enjoyed his friendship and are happy that we got to see him in Mesa this year. We will miss his smile and conversations. We want to express our sympathy to our friend Barb and the family.

Barb, Missy, and Tony,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of your husband and father. Lee was one of my first "adult" friends along with Barb when I began teaching at CHS. I enjoyed the friendship, hospitality, and great relationship that was a result of their involvement with the River King band! The wonderful smile in his photograph brought back a lot of great memories. Please accept my condolences and know that you all have been in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
With sympathy,
Mike Schmitz

At this time there are no words that will bring you comfort for the loss of Lee. His presence in life was so large and loving. I am so grateful to have known Lee and to be a part of his family. Even though I didn't get up to Iowa as much as I would have liked, I always looked forward to seeing Lee and Barb when I visited. There was never a dual moment when Lee was around. He and I would laugh at the most stupid things. I am so blessed to know that my sister, Debbie, was loved and accepted my the Bianchi family. What will keep you going will be the wonderful memories you have of Lee throughout the time you had with this amazing man. I saw so much love from him to his grandsons Joe, Nick and Brad. His relationship with his grandson's were ones that many wished they had. The respect between the boy's and Lee was mutual. Tony and Lee's relationship was one that was so loving and special. Lee was a great example for Tony as a father, an example that Tony now has with his sons. I will always, always remember his smile and keep it close to my heart. I love you guys and know this is very, very hard. There will always be an empty seat at your table, but I know your heart will always be filled with love and memories for this great man. Love to you all..

It is with great sorrow to hear of Lee's passing. My found memory of Lee was seeing you and Lee singing the beautiful duet at our Greenfield concerts, just a month ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you Barbara.
