It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Lizzie" Aragon. Lizzie passed away peacefully on April 8th, 2025 at Christus St. Vincent hospital in Santa Fe, NM.
We met in 1972. Lizzie was a lifelong resident of
Las Vegas, NM where she was a graduate of West Las Vegas High School in 1976, after high school she moved with her husband and new born baby Rob to Gaeta Italy where her youngest son Marco was born. After 4 years in Italy the family moved back to
Las Vegas, NM where Lizzie had various jobs in customer service, most notably as a manager of a local bank for several years.
Lizzie was a devout catholic and often spent time in her later years helping out at St. Michael's Christian store where she would often assist people in finding gifts for the many blessed sacraments, baptism, first holy communions and confirmation as well as weddings/funerals and other religious needs. Thank you Frances for helping her.
She was also a proud supporter of West Las Vegas Dons where her husband has worked for 35 years and her 2 sons and daughter in law have also been employed by at various times.
Lizzie loved going for rides to enjoy the mountains and seeing wildlife. She loved helping people she would meet. s knew the words to all songs would play on radio and would sing along. I am asking you to listen to the Beatles song Let it Be it is her message to all of us. Lizzie had so many friends I wish I could name all of you guy's. Sunshine thank you for guiding US.
She is preceded in death by her mother Rose Serna, sister Christine, brother Tony jr and father Tony Serna and Grandma and Grand pa Margaret and Jose Lino Rivera, Hillaro Lucero. Lizzie loved my Grandma Juanita and Cruz Benavidez, Annie, Aragon, Joseph, Danny and Michael from my side of the family.
She is survived by her loving family members and many friends including her husband Robert Aragon, youngest son Marco, wife Meredith, grandson Marco Jr and granddaughter Meadow Rose as well as her oldest son Rob and granddaughter Brooklynn. Her closest living relative and friends Margaret Sanchez and family Henry and Raymond Sanchez, Tessa and Richard Johnson and family Aric, Mia and Lauren Johnson. Lizzie also leaves behind numerous friends as Wanda, Larry, Charlie, Anna, Alex, Antoinette, Mark, Michael M, Uncle Louie and Barbra Benavidez by the overwhelming output of support demonstrated during this difficult time. Gino and Louisa as well Veva, Nancy, Patsy, Juan, Bobby from her dads side of the family.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church beginning at 9:30 am with the recitation of the Holy Rosary to be followed immediately by the Mass of Christian burial with Fr. Jacob Romero officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
