Elizabeth Cola Whittington Ashley, age 77, of Picayune MS, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025 in Hattiesburg, MS. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 12:00 pm at New Palestine Cemetery.
Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Dr. Andrew Wilson of First Baptist Church of Picayune will officiate at the service.
A native of Brookhaven, MS, she was a Bookeeper and a member of First Baptist Church of Picayune. A graduate of Hazlehurst Mississippi High School in 1966, she married Floyd Ashley and together they had 2 children Kevin and Deborah. They were married until 2006. Elizabeth was very active in young girls activities at First Baptist Church of Picayune and in her Homeowners Association in Millbrook Estates where she resided from 1996 until her death. More than anything she loved Jesus, her Savior, her children and grandchildren. A special thank you to her dear friends, Cecil Watkins, Norman and Angela Howell and Sylvia and Chuck Kennedy for your dear friendship over the years. Elizabeth lived her life according to the engraving on her headstone from 2nd Timothy 4:7; I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and kept my Faith.
She was preceded in death by parents, Andrew James Whittington, Jr. and Betty Ann Mayfield; brother, A J Whittington, III;
Left to cherish her memory are her son, John Kevin (Samantha) Ashley; daughter, Deborah Ann Ashley; grandchildren, Hillary, Colin, Kyleigh, and Dalton; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Dillard; many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers Elizabeth would have loved for people to make contributions to their favorite charities.
