Elizabeth (Betty) Mae Alcorn (née Rayburg), 78, of Huber Heights, OH went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 18, 2026. Betty was born on March 7, 1947, in Dayton, OH to Betty Wheatley and William Rayburg. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, James (Don) Alcorn of which the two would have shared their 60th wedding anniversary four days after her passing on January 22nd; she is also survived by three of her four children, Donice Rene Alcorn, Tara Joyé Alcorn, Joshua David Alcorn (Nicole); daughter-in-law, Nikka; six grandchildren, Kylie (Seantia), Daja (Caleb), Alexis (Bryce), Macey, Dorien, Jacob; blessed by one great grandchild, Marcus; one brother, Lee (Dawna) Rayburg; two sisters, Mary (Danny) Allen, Dawn Sellers. She is preceded in death by her firstborn son, James Dean Alcorn; sister, Diane Wheatley; father, William Rayburg; mother, Betty Wheatley; brother, Bill Rayburg.
Betty devoted her life to Jesus, her family, her home, and her place of worship (Calvary Open Bible Church). She ensured her faith was grounded in the promise that Jesus is Lord and that the word of God is the rock upon which she stood. She brought up all her children and grandchildren as a witness to that gospel. Betty’s witness did not stop with her descendants, it stretched to friends of her children, extended family, members of her church, and children she taught in Sunday school. Betty spent her life as a servant to God and anyone she came in contact with.
Rest assured, now that she has made it to her reward, her Lord has said to her; well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; now I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share in your Lord’s happiness! (Matthew 25:21)
Visitation for Betty will be on Friday, January, 30th 2026, from 12pm-1pm at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424. Funeral service will be held at 1pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
