Elizabeth (Betty) Dianne Conway, a longtime resident of Edgerton, passed away on April 10, 2025. She was 93. Betty was born July 20, 1931 in Janesville to the late Carl H. Beyer and Edna (Helgesen) Beyer. She graduated from Janesville high school and attended Lawrence University in Appleton Wisconsin, where she was a cheerleader and a proud member of the Alpha Delta Phi Sorority. Upon graduation she traveled Europe, living in Florence for several months. On September 9, 1955, Betty married Richard Warren Conway, also of Janesville, eventually settling in Edgerton to raise a family. Betty was a teacher, starting her career in Juneau, then after marriage in Janesville, finally spending the majority of her career in Edgerton teaching 8th grade science. Later in her career she returned to college to receive a Master's in Education. During her tenure she coached many sports and led many fund-raising activities. In fact, She was handed the keys to the high school swimming pool by the superintendent on its opening day to celebrate the behind the scenes work she had led to get it financed. After retiring from the district, she continued to substitute teach and coach for many years. Mom and dad were both active in the local A.F.S. club, hosting many students. This paired well with their love for travel. Together they visited Japan, China, Mexico, Russia, Norway, England, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Greece, the Caribbean, and her favorite, Egypt. In retirement Mom and Dad spent their winters in Arizona where she was really able to indulge her creative side. She was active in several sewing clubs, and she taught ceramics classes. After the passing of her husband, Betty moved back to Edgerton living in Swift Haven Assisted Living Apartments for six years where she reconnected with old friends and made many new ones, especially with staff members who were always so good to her. She referred to several as her angels. She also continued her involvement in Central Lutheran Church and the public library. Betty loved Puzzles, Reading, Chocolate, and watching sports, particularly her Brewers and Badgers. She spent her final days in the exceptionally caring hands of the Edgerton Care Center and Bristol Hospice. Betty was a proud parent and a more proud grandparent. She was a fixture at sports and music events, absolutely cheering the loudest. She was also very generous with fundraisers for anything local and involving her family, church, town, or library. Betty is survived by her big brother Bill Beyer of Milwaukee, sons Steven (Cindy) Conway of Wausau, Peter Conway of Minneapolis, Bill (Mika) Conway of Edgerton, and Daughter Susan (Paul) Soderholm of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, her grandchildren Yo Conway, Richie Conway, Lee Conway, Henry Conway, Erika Soderholm, and Owen Soderholm, and seriously more awesome cousins, nieces, and nephews, friends and former students than I can count. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband Dick Conway. A Celebration of Life will be held for Betty on Saturday, April 26th from 1 PM to 4 PM at Atria Hall, Edgerton. Please pop in. Chocolate will be available. Albrecht Funeral Homes, Edgerton are assisting the family with arrangements. www.albrechtfuneralhomes.com
