Elizabeth Margaret (Betsey) Dale died August 31, 2025. She was born August 25, 1945, one of five siblings in Torrington, Connecticut.
While attending Central Connecticut State College, she met and married Jack Dale. Upon graduation, they moved to Casey Key, Florida and taught in the Sarasota County School District. To further their career goals, they attended the University of Georgia where Betsey earned a Master of Business Education and Jack a doctorate. Upon returning to Casey Key, Betsey continued her career in education as the Chairman of the Business Education Department at both Sarasota and Venice High Schools. She was also actively involved with the Future Business Leaders of America.
As a consummate professional, she was the ideal model for future business leaders in dress, proficiency, and decorum. Betsey lived a full life in retirement, enjoying sports and travel. An accomplished angler, she never needed fish tales about the one that got away. The bounty from local waters allowed the Dales to treat their neighbors to an annual Casey Key fish fry. Betsey's energy, athleticism, and competitive spirit extended to active sports. She excelled at roller blading, in being a member of the Senior Women's doubles tennis competition at the state level, and at competitive croquet. She especially enjoyed walks on the Casey Key beach.
An adventurer, Betsey enjoyed traveling to many US and international destinations such as Martha's Vineyard, western Georgia mountains, Bermuda, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. "A Woman of All Seasons," her trademarks were calmness in crisis and competency. Whether it was assisting in building a dock for a friend, extinguishing a stove fire on a sailboat, acknowledging a friend's birthday, Betsey was there. Over the decades Betsey was devoted to her four Golden Retrievers, all named "Chelsea." Betsey gave back to her community through volunteer work by serving as the treasurer of the Casey Key Library. A life of courage, loyalty, and kindness will not be forgotten.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Dale and her brother, Tom Anderson. A Celebration of Life for Betsey will be held on November 16, 2025 at the Casey Key Library. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements. To send a condolence or memory please visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com.
