Dear sister of Mary Lou (Richard) Brinkmann, John (Barbara) Hekler, Robert (Barbara) Hekler and Donald (Julie) Hekler. Also survived by loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Betty was born August 22, 1948 to the late John and Magdalene (Burkhart) Hekler. Raised on the west side of Cincinnati, Betty graduated from Mother of Mercy, St. Francis School of Nursing and the Athenaeum of Ohio in Lay Pastoral Ministry.
Betty worked as both a pediatric and obstetric nurse for Cincinnati physicians. She was a lay Pastoral Minister at Bayley Place for eight years and then earned the Donna West award for her ten years of service as a Hospice chaplain at Bayley and West Park nursing facilities.
Betty's greatest joy was spending time with her family who loved her immensely. Betty passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2024. Visitation Sunday, April 21, from 4pm to 7pm at Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home, 3155 Harrison Ave. (Westwood). Funeral Mass Monday, April 22, at 10:30am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church,
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bayley, 990 Bayley Drive. Cincinnati, Ohio 45233, Matthew 25 Ministries, 11060 Kenwood Rd. Cincinnati, Ohio 45242 or Hospice of Cincinnati, P.O. Box 633597, Cincinnati, Ohio 45263 The family is grateful for the Bayley staff and Hospice of Cincinnati for end of life care.

She was my roommate and one of my best friends. We started off working together, we played softball together and along with two other friends went on several weekend trips. On one occasion the four of us knocked over a pew in a small Catholic church. That's all I am saying. Will miss you Betty.
