Elizabeth Vega Gonzales, 61 of Gonzales, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025. Elizabeth was born July 4, 1963 in Gonzales to Allen Vega and Odelia Munoz Vega. She married Ruben Cantu Gonzales on December 3, 2013 in Yoakum.
Elizabeth had worked as a CNA in Gonzales and for many years at Stevens Nursing Home in Yoakum. She adored her grandchildren and cherished the times she got to spend with them. She loved listening to Tejano music, dancing and sewing. She was always a happy person, but never more so than when she was surrounded by her family. She was generous and tried to help others whenever and wherever she could. Elizabeth always put the needs of others before her own, one of the many things that made her so special. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Elizabeth Vega Gonzales is survived by her loving family, husband, Ruben Canto Gonzales, daughters, Mandy Garcia, Stephanie Garcia, Victoria Austin "Elton Fletcher, son, Oscar Garcia, 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Ruben Gonzales, Jr, grandson, David Ray Martinez, Jr, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A rosary will begin at 9:30am to 10:00am, and a memorial mass will begin at 10:00am. Interment of ashes will proceed at St. James Catholic Cemetery.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Friends may leave their condolences to the family by visiting www.seydlerhillfuneralhome.com.
