Tommy Jimenez Gonzales, born on May 27, 1952, in Santa Ana, California, was a beacon of strength and devotion, whose life journey came to a peaceful end on October 6, 2025, in Orange, California. He was a man who lived by the inspiring words of 1 Corinthians 16:13, "be firm in the faith, be courageous; be strong." Tommy's unwavering faith, optimism and strength were the cornerstones of his remarkable life.
Tommy's legacy is cherished by his beloved wife, Stephanie Gonzales, and their five children: son Zach Gonzales and daughters Angela Pryear, Andrea Gonzales, Jennifer Rivers, and Moriah Jazzo. He was the proud grandfather to Jacob, Malia, Ava, Xavier, Logan, and a precious grandchild on the way. His brother Manuel Gonzales, numerous nieces and nephews, including Bill Jr., whom he helped raise, also survive him. His life was preceded by the loss of his parents, Manuel Sr. and Ophelia Gonzales, and his brother Bill Gonzales Sr.
Growing up in Santa Ana, Tommy's education laid the foundation for a career characterized by diligence and service. He worked for the City of Santa Ana and the County of Orange before embarking on a 27-year journey with Newport Mesa Unified School District as an irrigation specialist. His work ethic was unmatched; he was a man who found relaxation in the act of working, whether for others or on his own property.
Tommy's 1966 Chevy Truck was a labor of love - a restoration project that mirrored the care he put into every aspect of his life. He was an ardent fan of the San Francisco 49ers, sharing his passion for the game with his family. His dogs, Raven, Bae, and Kaya, were his loyal companions, never far from his side or his heart.
In his yard, Tommy's pride was evident in every meticulously maintained blade of grass. He was the embodiment of the phrase 'jack of all trades,' with a remarkable ability to repair anything that came his way. His faith was the compass that guided him, and he instilled this fervent devotion in his family, nurturing a home filled with love and worship.
Tommy faced numerous health challenges with the courage of a warrior, never letting his battles diminish his positive spirit. His resilience was a testament to his character, a man who faced life's storms with a steadfast heart.
Beyond his family, Tommy nurtured friendships that were a source of joy and camaraderie. His weekly lunch club meetings with Benny, Rick, Manuel, and others were cherished moments of fellowship, where laughter and stories were as abundant as the food they shared.
Courageous, handy, faith-filled - these words only begin to describe Tommy Jimenez Gonzales. His life was a testament to the power of optimism and the strength of the human spirit. As we remember Tommy, let us carry forward the essence of his being - a life lived with purpose, love, and an unwavering belief in the possibilities of tomorrow. May his story inspire us to face each day with hope, to embrace our own journey with confidence, and to cherish the bonds of family and friendship as the treasures they truly are.
