Elizabeth (Liz) Locke, 94, a lifelong resident of Knoxville, was born on January 3, 1930, and passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on March 8, 2024. In honor of Liz friends and family may call at their convenience at Stevens Mortuary between the hours of noon and 6:00 pm on Tuesday, March 12. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, March 13, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Alcoa Highway, Knoxville.
Liz was an employee of Tom's Foods until her retirement, at which time she was able to enjoy traveling to many places throughout the world with friends. In recent years she looked forward to regular visits from the good people who volunteer with Knox County Sheriff's Office Senior Citizen Awareness Network also known as SCAN, and she grew very close to many of them. Although there were many things she loved doing, the thing she loved most was without a doubt her relationships with friends and family. Without fail she ended every visit or phone conversation with her loved ones by saying "I love you more", and her life was a testament to that love.
Liz is preceded in death by her husband, Sam, whom she married in 1948 at the age of 18 and lived happily alongside until his death in 1989. Her love for Sam was constant, and her family is comforted with thoughts that they are reunited at last. Together she and Sam had and lovingly raised their son, Steve Locke (Brandi). She was a devoted mother before all else. Liz's loving heart continued to shine as she doted on her grandchildren, Jonathan Locke (Christie) and Cody Locke. Her love easily extended to include her great-grandchild, Aryana Locke.
In addition to her immediate family, Liz leaves behind her brother, Bob Roth (Cindy), multiple nieces, nephews, and a dear friend, Kathy Callahan, who has been a constant source of loving support and friendship to Liz for many years.
Although she passed from this life, her love continues through her legacy of remarkable kindness, gratitude, generosity, and unfailing love which she extended graciously to everyone she encountered.
In remembrance of Liz's life and love, memorial contributions can be made to KCSO SCAN 1000 N Central Ave Knoxville, TN 37917.
