EASTON----Elizabeth J. (Shay) Marcham, a resident of Easton for the past 11 years, formerly of Quincy and Fall River, passed away peacefully on February 6 at home under the care of her family and Old Colony Hospice. She was the loving wife of David F. Marcham for 60 years.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Francis A. and Elizabeth (Reynolds) Shay, she was raised in Fall River and was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Fall River. She continued her education at Bryant University and later furthered her professional studies in business and finance.
At first, she worked as an accountant in the Fall River area. However, her true professional passion was her position as an assistant clerk for the Bristol County Superior Court, where she enjoyed lifelong friendships with her colleagues.
From childhood, she had a strong devotion to God. Her parish church, St. Louis, nearby her home on Bradford Avenue, was the center of her and her family's spiritual strength. Her parents had an enormous influence on whom she was raised to become, as well as her devotion to the Catholic faith and its representation of charity to all.
A devoted wife, mother, daughter, niece, and friend, Elizabeth had an engaging way of caring for people of all needs, including welcoming many into her home.
In her younger years leading up to marriage, she enjoyed ice skating, roller skating, dancing, and golf. When she was married, she took pleasure in walking their family dogs on a daily basis and cross-country skiing with her husband, David.
The Marcham family would like to acknowledge Dr. Gerald Izzi and Dr. Daniel Feleke, as well as other physicians who cared for her health with such compassion as well as Old Colony Palliative Care and Hospice, in particular Sue Mugford, NP, and Heather Peterson, RN, for their professional and thoughtful care.
In addition to her husband, David, she is survived by two sons, Reverend David S. Marcham of Easton, MA, and Patrick G. Marcham of Snohomish, Washington, and three grandchildren, Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. She was also the sister of the late Francis A. Shay, Jr.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral Mass on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 372 Middleboro Ave, East Taunton. Interment will be at a later date at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River, MA. For directions or condolences, visit www.kanefuneralhome.com
