Elizabeth A. (Hayes) McCabe, 87, of Enfield, beloved wife of the late James M. McCabe, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 30, 2024. She was born in Queens, NY, on January 18, 1937, the daughter of the late Martin Hayes and Mary (Herlihey) Hayes.
A long-time resident of Enfield, Elizabeth was an active member of Holy Family Church, where she found both comfort and community. She was a woman of grace and warmth, whose love for life was evident in the many joys she cherished. Elizabeth especially found peace and beauty in the rose gardens of Elizabeth Park, a place where she often wandered, taking in the vibrant colors and fragrant air.
Above all, Elizabeth found her greatest happiness in the company of her family. Her home was a place of love, laughter, and festive celebration, particularly during the holidays when her home was filled with decorations and the warmth of family. Whether it was hosting family gatherings or sharing quiet, everyday moments with her grandchildren, she treasured every moment spent with her loved ones.
Elizabeth is survived by her sons: James T. McCabe of Enfield and his partner Sandra Hintz of Terryville, Edward H. McCabe and his wife Donna of Florida, Kevin M. McCabe of Enfield and his partner Edna Roman of Manchester, and Colin P. McCabe of Willington. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Domenic McCabe, Kaleigh Myren and her husband Kevin, Hunter McCabe, Riley McCabe, Cassidy McCabe, Kaleb McCabe, Dylan McCabe, Meral Hermanowski and her husband Mike, and Devon McCabe; as well as her great-granddaughter, Myla Hermanowski. In addition to her parents and her late husband James, Elizabeth was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Tina McCabe.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd, Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd, Enfield. Burial services will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at St. Patrick King St. Cemetery.
