Elizabeth Sherwood McLean of Asheville, North Carolina passed away on October 1, 2024 from complications of lupus.
Beth was born on February 27, 1976 in Wilmington, North Carolina. She graduated from Asheville High School in 1994 and Cum Laude from Salem College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies and Art History. She interned at Reynolda House in Winston-Salem before taking a job with Colonial Williamsburg. She spent many years working in the medical field as an administrative assistant and in various other positions.
Beth is survived by her parents, James and Barbara McLean and her brother Scott McLean. She also has aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was a happy little girl who loved to talk to others. She was feisty and had a strong sense of herself and how she wanted her life to unfold. She loved art, reading, and music. Most of all she loved her cat Punkin. She said that Punkin was her best friend.
A service is planned at a later date at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Asheville. Ashes will be interred at Rowland Cemetery in Rowland, North Carolina. The family would like to express appreciation to Four Seasons Hospice; and Drs. Will Durham and Christopher Meyer for their years of care to Beth. Memorials can be sent to the Asheville Humane Society, 81 Thompson Street, Asheville, NC 28803.
Groce Funeral Home's Lake Julian Team is assisting the family.

I am heartbroken to hear about Beth´s passing and want to extend my deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. Living on the same floor with her at Salem in Babcock during our freshman year is a memory I´ll always treasure. May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who loved her.
