Elizabeth Ann Metz McGrew was born on August 27, 1982, and passed away on December 10, 2023, at the age of 41.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 10 years, Kevin McGrew; her stepdaughter, Karley Rae McGrew, her mother Paula LeLeux; her sisters, Andree' Metz McAnally and Ceceilia "Sissie" Metz Kneupper (Justin); her stepsister, Laigha B. Derouen; her in-laws, Leslie and Kenneth McGrew Jr.; Godchildren, Lauren Kate McAnally and Erica Claire McAnally; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Rickie Jules Metz; maternal grandparents, Lelier and Stella Litteral LeLeux; paternal grandparents, Frederick Sr. and Ceceilia "Sis" Babin Metz; and her brother-in-law, Stuart J. McAnally.
Elizabeth was a smart and beautiful woman with a loving and creative heart. She always saw the best in everyone. She was selfless, having a giver's soul, she would always look for ways to be there for others, while never expecting anything in return. She loved her family dearly and loved being surrounded by those she cared about. Elizabeth was a loving stepmother to Karley, and absolutely adored her Netherland Dwarf bunny, Thumper. Elizabeth was extremely creative and artistically talented. After graduating from Westgate High School in 2002, she attended SLCC for a short time in pursuit of an art education degree. She enjoyed creating sculptures and working with pottery. Many of her family and friends have things she created over the years. She was very outgoing, silly, funny, and loved to make people laugh. She loved her coffee and reading her Bible. She had a soft spot for animals of all kinds and worked for a while at the Zoo of Acadiana. She enjoyed gardening and spending time in her yard. She loved to bake and could make the absolute best apple pie. In her youth, she won many ribbons from Girl Scouts in baking competitions. She enjoyed dancing and participated on the worship dance team at Faith Cathedral Church in New Iberia. Elizabeth was a very spiritual person. She went through many challenges in life and knew to always turn to the Lord for the answers and strength she needed. Her family finds peace knowing that she had a strong relationship with God. Many say that her own spiritual journey also helped them onto the right path, helping to change their lives still to this day.
Elizabeth will be greatly missed by all that loved her.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in honor of Elizabeth's life on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 11-1pm, followed by a prayer service at 1pm, at Louisiana Funeral Services & Crematory, located at 108 Hardware Rd. Broussard, LA 70518.
