Elizabeth Mitchell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Audubon Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Slidell on Feb. 13, 2026.
Elizabeth Fay Mitchell, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on January 30, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on August 18, 1955, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, she is the beloved daughter of the late Julius Richard Mitchell and Vennie Louise Triggs.

Her life was further enriched by her loving relationship with her significant other, Robert "Bobby" Cockerham, with whom she shared 45 years together until his passing. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her son, Ronald "Ronnie" Monroe Secco. Her legacy continues through her adored granddaughter, December Dawn Mullins, and her cherished great-grandchildren, Houston Smith and Kristopher Lejeune Jr.

Elizabeth is also survived by her devoted sisters, Elaine Louise Mitchell and Linda Mitchell Jones; as well as her half-sisters, Patricia Smith and Melba Wisner Ellsey; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Harold Mitchell (Whitey), and her half-brothers, Robert Havard and Lawrence Havard.

Elizabeth's professional life was dedicated to serving the community through her work with the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) for the State of Louisiana.

She found solace in fishing and comfort in crocheting. Elizabeth's spirit shined brightest during Mardi Gras, a time when she celebrated the culture and vibrancy of her beloved New Orleans. Her enthusiasm and team spirit for the New Orleans Saints was unwavering.

Elizabeth's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared and the love she gave so freely. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
