Elizabeth Gay Pfisterer, 64, passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2025.
Liz was born on June 8, 1960 to Jean Brenner Gay and Samuel Tucker Gay, Jr. at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois. Jean and Tuck raised Liz and her two sisters, Becky and Kit, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Liz attended Glenbard West High School where she was on the varsity cheer squad. After graduation, Liz went on to attend Southern Methodist University. She graduated with a B.A. degree in childhood education and was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority – continuing her family's Theta legacy.
In the years immediately following college, Liz remained in Dallas teaching elementary school. She was a gifted teacher and she loved her students. In 1986, Liz moved to Chicago where her career path led her to educational sales.
It was while attending a charity event in Chicago that Liz met the "man in the white bucks", Scott McKenna Pfisterer. He became the love of her life. Liz and Scott married in 1987, and together had three wonderful children: Mac, Annie and Molly. Liz and Scott settled in Hinsdale in 1992 where they raised their family and made lifelong friends.
Liz's most important and cherished role was that of mom. Liz's life revolved around her family (and dogs), and her love for them is reflected in the closeknit, loving bond they share.
Liz was an active member of the Hinsdale Golf Club for over 22 years. She was a member of the Hinsdale Junior Women's Club, serving as its President for a time. Liz was a member of Grace Episcopal Church where she chaired the Showcase House.
Liz was effervescent, a fun-loving person who would light up any room she would enter. Her strength, empathy and dance moves matched her personality. She was kind, loving, compassionate and fiercely loyal. Liz brought people together with her sense of humor, laughter and her ability to make everyone feel special. She was truly beautiful inside and out and the twinkle in her eye will never be forgotten.
Liz is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Scott McKenna Pfisterer, son Mac Pfisterer (Muriel) of Hinsdale, daughters Annie Lewis (Cody) of Rancho Mission Viejo, CA and Molly Sobolewski (Dave) of Chicago, her mother Jean Brenner Gay of Sarasota, FL, sisters Becky Mahoney (Jay) of Sarasota, FL and Kit Rohm of Newport Beach, CA and sister-in-law Nancy Pfisterer Leon (Charlie Thomson) of Wilson, WY. She also has 10 nieces and nephews, their spouses, and nine great-nieces and nephews, who all deeply mourn the loss of their Aunt Libboo. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Tucker Gay, Jr., and nephew John Tucker Mahoney. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14th at Grace Episcopal Church in Hinsdale at 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in Liz's memory to SPARCC, 2139 Main Street, Sarasota, FL 34237
