Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Elizabeth G. (Musco) Quattro, announce her passing. Elizabeth passed away peacefully, at age 96, surrounded by her family, on Friday, August 23, 2024, at home. She was the devoted wife of 72 years to the late Mario Quattro who passed in 2022.
Born on February 2, 1928, in Waterbury, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Angelo and Rose (Molella) Musco. She attended Duggan Grammar School and Wilby High School. Elizabeth was the fourth born of ten children, and she played a vital role in helping her parents and siblings. Elizabeth was born and raised in the Brooklyn section of Waterbury, and often spoke of the wonderful family, friends, connections, and memories of that community.
In the early days of computers, she was trained as a computer operator, and worked for the City of Waterbury in the Comptroller's Office. Elizabeth was a consummate cook, baker, decorator, seamstress, and fashionista. She could often be found in her kitchen, effortlessly whipping up a delicious meal or dessert, and she designed and made all of her daughter's special occasion dresses worn throughout her childhood. She enjoyed the casino and playing bingo and cards. She was a member of a group of nine women, both friends and family, who named themselves, "The Club". They met monthly for many years and, together, played cards, shared conversation and meals. She was an avid reader, enjoyed classic movies, and loved the big band era.
Elizabeth, "Liz" was known for her wonderful sense of humor, and her ability to love deeply and intensely. She was incredibly nurturing and could be found hugging or kissing any family member at any given moment, especially the children, including her grandchildren and great grandchildren, to whom she would always say, "I love you with all my heart." Liz enjoyed a very long, full life filled with wonderful memories and was always surrounded by many family members and treasured lifelong friends. She had a spirit of determination used to face all of life's challenges. We will all be forever grateful and hold dear all the love and fond memories she has gifted us with.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Terese "Terri" Quattro Cook of Waterbury with whom she made her home; her son, Christopher Quattro, of Waterbury, her daughter-in-law, whom she considered her daughter, Linda (DeVito) Quattro of Colorado; and her grandchildren, Alana Quattro of Colorado, Alyssa (Cook) Nugent and her husband Brian, of Cheshire, Nicholas Quattro and his fiance, Samantha Hagenstein, of Colorado, and Christina Cook of Waterbury. She also leaves her great grandsons, Jay Bennett Wilson and William Brian Nugent; her brothers, Pasquale (Millie) Musco, Joseph (Annette) Musco, and her sister, Mary Manzi, as well as her sister-in-law Marie (Quattro) Ieronimo and her husband Frank, and several generations of nieces and nephews in the Musco and Quattro families. In addition to Mario, her beloved husband, she was predeceased by her son, Mark H. Quattro, her son-in-law, William J. Cook III, her brothers, Gabriel Musco, Vincent Musco, Angelo Musco, and Domenic Musco, her sisters, Nancy (Musco) D'Andrea, and infant sister, Mary Musco.
The Quattro family would like to send a special thank you to Anita Finkle, Barbara Holub, RN, and the staff at the VITAS Hospice Unit at Saint Mary's Hospital, for their compassionate and dedicated care.
