Elizabeth Ramey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home - Prestonsburg on Oct. 29, 2024.
Elizabeth Ramey, age 93, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tennessee. Born on August 29, 1931, in East Point, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Elsie Leake. Elizabeth lived a life characterized by devotion to family, faith, and community.
Elizabeth graduated from Prestonsburg High School and Mayo Vocational Technical School, earning a degree in Business Administration. She dedicated 30 years of service to Columbia Gas Transmission and also worked in the offices of the Floyd County Clerk and Circuit Court Clerk.
Elizabeth led a life of service to others. She volunteered at Highlands Regional Medical Center and at The Mountain Arts Center. Elizabeth was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church, the Prestonsburg Woman's Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Through these and numerous other connections to her community, Elizabeth was blessed with many dear friends.
In recent years, Elizabeth moved from Prestonsburg to Bristol, Tennessee, to live near three generations of her family. Elizabeth was the proud mother of her daughter, Junella (George) McClellan, and a loving grandmother to James McClellan and Susan Elizabeth (Ned) Zeiler. Her great-grandchildren, Connor and Colton McClellan, Katherine Elizabeth and Joseph Zeiler, brought her endless joy, and she delighted in watching them grow. She also leaves behind her sisters, Dorothy Harris and Wanda (Charles) Spradlin, and nieces and nephews, Kathy (Danny) Lowe, Tom Spradlin, and Eddie (Heather) Hazelett. She was preceded in death by her cherished niece, Jennifer Spradlin.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 1st, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Prestonsburg, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 12:00. Burial at Richmond Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the church she loved so much: First United Methodist Church, 256 S. Arnold Ave, Prestonsburg, Kentucky 41653.
