Elizabeth "Betty" Roman

Elizabeth 'Betty' Roman, 80, died on December 1, 2025 at Madison Complete Care in Matawan, NJ. She was born in Newark, NJ and lived in Port Monmouth, NJ for 52 years. Betty worked as an office clerk for the Township of Middletown in the Building Department, retiring in 2007. She treasured family, delighted in every gathering, and showed her generosity through her boundless love and thoughtful gifts. She loved the music of Elvis, especially his gospel music, and was singing and humming right to the end of her life. Her favorite past time was going to Atlantic City with her sister Barbara, playing the slots together, hoping for that big win.
Surviving are her daughters, DeAnna Schwarz and Barbara Annuzzi; and son, Nelson Roman, Jr.; son-in-law Al Annuzzi and daughter-in-law Jennifer Roman; seven grandchildren, Victoria and Kate Schwarz, Andrew, Matthew and Luke Annuzzi and Alexa and Logan Roman; siblings Milly Colella, Barbara Perry and Elly Delonardo. Born into a large family and welcomed into a large in-law family, she leaves behind many dearly loved nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Nelson Roman, Sr., father, Stephan Podracky, mother, Suzanne Kovac, and siblings, Susan Deaney, Stephen Podracky, Wally Podracky and Judy Mescal.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 5, 2025 from 4 pm - 8pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home in Middletown, NJ. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered the same day at 7 pm.
