Elizabeth Marie Schackmann, age 70, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 9:58 AM – Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Helia Healthcare in Newton, Illinois.
Private family services will be held. The Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois is assisting the family. The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com. In loving memory of Elizabeth, memorials maybe made to St. Thomas Catholic School.
Elizabeth was born on October 12, 1952, in Newton, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence F. and Clara Marie (Bergbower) Schackmann.
She loved to visit with friends and family and for them to take her Wal-Mart shopping. She loved animals and was a huge Elvis fan.
Elizabeth was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois.
Elizabeth is survived by- sisters, Phyllis (Ron) LaFeber of Indianapolis, Indiana; Helen (Reg) Galvin of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Cathy (Mike) Dasenbrock of Newton, Illinois; brothers, Mark (Lois) Schackmann of Effingham, Illinois; and Norbert (Angela) Schackmann of Mattoon, Illinois.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Denis Schackmann, Art Schackmann, and Shirley "Lee" Schackmann.
