Elizabeth "Betty" Tanguay, 73, of Gorham, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, following a period of failing health. She was born in Berlin, NH January 19, 1952 the daughter of the late Lionel and Veronica (Travers) Babin and was a lifelong resident of the area. A graduate of Notre Dame High School class of 1971, she briefly went to cosmetology school before taking a job at Androscoggin Valley Hospital. Over the years she worked in a variety of roles until she took a Unit Coordinator position, working 43 years before retiring. Betty was an avid knitter, reader, going for walks and going out to eat with family and friends. For many years she was a member of a senior’s bowling league in Berlin. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and going shopping. She looked forward to having her nails done, every two weeks. Her granddaughter was the highlight of her life.
She is survived by her husband Rick Tanguay of Gorham; her son Brian Wilson of Gorham; her granddaughter Amber Wilson of Gorham; her siblings: Norman Babin and wife Peggy of San Francisco, CA, Louis Babin and wife Gail of Littleton, NH, Rose Ramsey and husband Frank of Lee, NH and Sue Temme and husband Tom of Randolph, NH; a brother-in-law Michael Tanguay and wife Lois of Deering, NH; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son Craig Wilson, and two brother Dicky Babin and Frank Babin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 1pm at Holy Family Church, Church St., Gorham with interment following at Holy Family Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, Nov. 20th from 6-8 pm at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin, NH. Donations in her memory may be made to Northwoods Cancer Survivors, 24 1/2 Wood St., Berlin, NH 03570. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.bryantfuneralhome.net.
