Elizabeth L. Taormina, 96 of Center Township passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Heritage Valley, Beaver.
A daughter of the late Louis and Clara Betke, Betty was raised in Beaver Falls and was a 1943 graduate of Beaver Falls High School. She was employed as a cashier at the former Beaver Falls A & P Store for a number of years.
In 1961, Betty was united in marriage to Anthony Taormina of Monaca. A highlight for the couple was dancing on Saturday evenings with their friends. Betty was a member of Redeemer Trinity Lutheran Church, Monaca and Lois Circle and was a former longtime member and treasurer of the Monaca American Legion Post Auxiliary. Later in life, she and her husband Tony, delivered Meals on Wheels in the area. One of her favorite past times was spending time with family playing pinocle and baking with nut horns being her specialty. Betty will especially be remembered for her laugh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tony on Nov 27, 2006. She was also preceded by two brothers, Albert and Donald Betke and a sister Freida Cummings.
She leaves a daughter, Amy Ratkovich and two grandchildren, Benjamin and Brittany.
Friends will be received on Monday, Nov 7th from 10 am until the time of service at 12 noon at Simpson Funeral & Cremation Service, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. Reverend Angela Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in St John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Dr Gehrlein and the staff of Rochester Manor for the care they gave her.
