Elizabeth T. Tkac, 88, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Born on June 25, 1936, in New Britain, she was the beloved youngest of nine children of John and Josephine (Gerger) Taucher.
After graduating from high school, Elizabeth trained as an X-ray technician and went on to serve patients at both New Britain General Hospital and Hartford Hospital with dedication and compassion.
Her legacy is marked by kindness, a love for family, and a deep faith that guided her through life's joys and challenges. Elizabeth was deeply involved in her children's education, serving as a room mother and as president of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for several years. She was also a dedicated member of her community, elected as president of the Our Lady of Mercy (OLM) Ladies Guild, where her leadership and warmth brought people together for meaningful causes and fellowship. This selfless dedication to family and community left a lasting impact on those around her.
She enjoyed and looked forward to many family vacations, and later in life, she and her husband Michael traveled the country together in their cherished blue and silver Anniversary Edition Ford Thunderbird making countless memories along the way. Elizabeth also loved pottery and collected Blue Calico dinnerware.
Elizabeth is survived by her five children: Patricia, Michael, Andrew and his wife Heather, Matthew and his wife Michele, and Christopher. She was a proud and loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Danielle, Emily, Michael, Peter, Christopher, and Jonathan. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 62 years, Michael, in 2022, and by her eight siblings: Dorothy, John, Mildred, Charles, Louise, Evelyn, Marion, and Theodore.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 9:45 AM at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Avenue, Bristol. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM at St. Jerome Church, 1010 Slater Road, New Britain. Burial will take place at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Osgood Avenue, New Britain.
