Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Tusing, 85, of Arnold passed away Sept. 12, 2025. She was born on May 23, 1940 to the late George William Tusing, Sr. and Anne Billey Tusing. Betty was a 1958 graduate of Arnold High School, 1960 graduate of the Allegheny Valley School of Medical Technology and a 1965 graduate of Duquesne University with a degree in Education. She began teaching Spanish at Tarentum High School in 1965 and continued when it became Highlands. During her teaching career, she coached girls softball, tennis and basketball at Highlands until she happily retired in 2001. She loved the Penguins, Steelers, Pirates, playing golf and her schnauzers Streudel and Ummie. Betty said, "Of all the gifts received, I am most grateful for my wonderful family and friends". She is survived by her brother James Edward Tusing (Kathleen) of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, and her sister Barbara Anne Grego (Vincent) of Sarver. Betty is also survived by her nephews David Tusing (Dana), Matthew Tusing (Mireya), Bradley Tusing (Joanna) and nieces Sarah Tusing, Jamie Heidrich (Brian), and Jennifer Edwards (Clint). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother George William Tusing, Jr and his wife, Holly. Funeral services are private and entrusted to The Rusiewicz of Arnold Funeral Home. Miss Tusing was a great basketball coach at Highlands in the 1970's. Because of her expertise and all she taught me I went on to play college basketball starting as a freshman. She was so kind and unassuming. The perfect teacher too. I never forgot her all these years later.
