Elizabeth J. Wagner, 89, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly, New Jersey, surrounded by her family and friends. Elizabeth (Betsy) was born on February 6, 1936, in Belleville, New Jersey. Betsy's life was a tapestry of dedication to her family and friends, her students, her love of travel, and the joy of her grandchildren.
Betsy was an independent, caring and kind woman who deeply loved her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Wagner) Jacobs and her husband, Marc. Betsy's legacy of love continues to thrive through her grandchildren, Emily Wagner, Drew Jacobs and his fiancé, Raquel Frier, and Alex Jacobs and Lindsay Broerman. Betsy also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Chris (Contreras) Wagner; two sisters-in-law, Margaret 'Peggy' Domenick, and Susan (Wagner) Delisi and her husband, Don; her half-sister, Sharon Hurlds; and many devoted Domenick, Delisi and Jacobs nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her best friend and former colleague of 45 years, Karen Keen. She was predeceased by her brother, William James Domenick, Jr.
Betsy's journey began in Belleville, where she was born and raised by her parents, William James Domenick, Sr. and Virginia (Short) Domenick. In 1958, she graduated from Albright College in Reading, PA, and embarked on a 35-year teaching career that would touch the lives of countless students and colleagues. For almost 20 years, she served as a special education teacher in Pennsauken School District, retiring in 1998. Her passion for teaching, her care and patience, and unwavering dedication left an indelible mark on her students and fellow teachers.
Beyond her professional achievements, Betsy loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and was looking forward to the upcoming wedding of her oldest grandson, Drew Jacobs, to Raquel Frier in December. She was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, loved crossword puzzles, reading, and travel which spoke to her curious and adventurous spirit. She also found solace at the beach, especially Spring Lake, Cape May, and Maui, where she vacationed with her close friends. Her cat, Casey, was her constant companion, and she looked forward to the weekly visits from Nanci and Jeana of Personally Yours Support Services.
Betsy's life was a testament to the power of love. Her gentle guidance, caring and loyal nature, unwavering support, and warm smile will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, on Sunday, November 23rd, at Bradley Funeral Home, 601 Rt 73 South and Evesham Rd, Marlton, NJ 08053. A celebration of her life will begin at 11:00 am, at the funeral home.
