Elizabeth (Libby) Ann Yuhas (Szallar), 88 of Hickory, PA passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025, in Hawthorne Woods Assisted Living, Washington, PA peacefully with her family at her side. Beloved wife of Emery Yuhas. She was born December 23, 1936, in Westland, PA, a daughter of Elizabeth Schumaker Szaller and Andrew Szallar. On October 26, 1957, she married Emery Yuhas who passed away in February 2024. In 1955 Libby graduated from Hickory High School, Hickory, PA. Libby worked at Shop and Save in Washington, PA for 18 years retiring in May 1997. She loved working at the deli and bakery at Shop and Save and made many friends. She played on a couple of bowling leagues and loved to travel to Las Vegas a couple times a year. She loved going to the local casino and out to eat. Libby loved to cook and bake. She was famous for her Hungarian cabbage rolls and her breaded fried chicken and many other dishes. She loved playing bingo and played up to the end. She always enjoyed her Great Grandchildren when they visited her. Libby was a member of St. Oscar Romero Parish, St. Patrick Church. She was the loving mother of Kimberly (Jeff) Federoff, Emery Jr., (Laura), Todd (Robin), Dawn Yuhas, and Dean (Kelly). Libby was the grandmother of Ashleigh Yuhas (Erik Sassone), Kristen Yuhas (Andrew Harvey), Jordan Yuhas, Samantha Curtis (Tyler), Stephanie Yuhas, Grace Patberg (Ron Verbonach), Joshua Yuhas, and Kaitlyn Yuhas. Brother-in-law of Todd, Ronnie Weaverling. Loving Great Grandma to Cecilia and Camden Curtis. Step grandchildren Brandon Shields (Kara), Jessica Sherbondy (Scott), Connor Shields (Jillian), Kieran Firment (Barrett) and Keaton Firment. Step great-grandchildren Kendal, Ava, Harper, Landon, Payton, Bauer and Adelyn. Also surviving is a sister Fran Kolesky of Oakdale and a brother Joseph Szallar of Bridgeville and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is a brother Andrew Szallar, Jr. We would like to send a special thank you to Amedysis Hospice nurses and aides as well as a special thank you to the care takers at Hawthorne Woods Assisted Living. All were wonderful. A special thank you to her sister Fran for helping throughout these hard times. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 Sunday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342, where a Blessing Service will be held a 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2025. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or stjude.org.
