Ella "Joyce" Gist

Ella "Joyce" (Gabbard) Gist, 85 of Algood, Tennessee passed from this life on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Joyce was born Wednesday, August 30, 1939, in Livingston, Tennessee, and she was the daughter of the late Henry Bowman Gabbard and the late Lee Mitt (Cullom) Hill.
Joyce was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, Granny, aunt, and friend. She worked for the Tennessee Tech Bakery for 30-plus years where she met many people. She served the Lord and became a Christian at a very early age. She and her husband attended Greater Faith Temple in Livingston, Tennessee for many years where he served as the pastor of the church and she served as a missionary and emeritus. She loved taking care of her family and church family. Joyce was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
Joyce is survived by, children, Mai, and her husband Kareem, Wilma Barnett, Charles Sammy Gist and his wife, Paula; Grandchildren., Samantha (Derrick)Gist Powe, Dee Gist, Porsha Peak, David Gist, Jr., Shannon Gist, John (Crystal) Cartwright, Ricardo "Ricky" (Amanda) Cartwright, Frank Peak, Charles Gist, Jr.; 2 Sisters, Christina Hayes, and Juanita Paige; A host of other relatives, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and special friends, Melinda Wilson, Tom Savage, and Robbie Felton.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Richard E. Gist; Son, David Gist; 3 Sisters, Henrietta Flood, Alene Savage, and Georgia Lee Hall; Grandson, Josh Cartwright.
Funeral Service for Ella "Joyce" (Gabbard) Gist will be held Monday, March 10, 2025, at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Heritage Cemetery in Algood, Tennessee.
Visitation with the family will be held Monday, March 10, 202,5 from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
