Reverend Ellen L Bessix

Ellen L. Bessix was born in Dover, Delaware on May 7, 1942 and departed this life at her home on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Ellen was born to the late Leroy and Gladys Griffin.
Ellen received her early education at Kenton Elementary School, in Kenton, Delaware. She later received her higher education at William Henry High School in Dover, Delaware. She was employed at General Foods in Dover and worked there for 30 years.
Ellen was a devoted member of Emmanuel A.M.E. Church in Hartly, Delaware, for several years, where she accepted the call and later became, Reverend Ellen Bessix. She served on the ministerial staff at Emmanuel and she also served in other capacities at the church. Ellen was a member of the Usher Board, The Ladies Aid Society, Pastor's Aid, and the she sang on the Women's Choir.
Ellen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert W. Bessix and her son, Marvin L. Griffin.
Ellen leaves behind her daughter, Ruschelle D. Miller; her son Wesley S. Bessix (Brandy); seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters; Lucille Brittingham, Diane (Roxanne) Griffin, Sylvia Parker (Robert), Sandra Griffin, Theresa Griffin; two brothers; James ( Wayne) Griffin and Richard Griffin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
