Ellen Erika Cohen

Ellen Erika Cohen, born June 20,1927, died on November 7, 2025. She was born in Ludwigsburg, Germany to Hermann and Jettchen Kaufmann. She and her family survived Kristallnacht, the Night of the Broken Glass, before escaping the German Nazi regime to Santiago, Chile in 1939. She married Dr. Alvin Cohen, Ph.D. in 1959, to whom she remained married until his passing in 2015. Throughout her life, she worked as a secretary and translator for several international companies including Warner Brothers in Santiago, Chile and Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem, PA. She spent her life caring for her family, working, and sharing her Holocaust survivor story about the dangers of fear and hatred to various civic organizations. She was known for her delicious cheesecakes of many flavors! She is survived by her two daughters, Beverly and Hilary, her son in law Kirk, and her two grandchildren, Samuel and Dr. Olivia Hoy.
