Warren Addison Cooksey, Sr., 88, passed away on November 11, 2025. He was born on May 3, 1937, to the late Wilson Sr. and Mary Inez (St. Claire) Cooksey.
After graduating from high school, Warren proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed in the South Pacific.
He was a devoted husband of 66 years to his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Betty) L. Huntt Cooksey. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, family and adventure.
Warren is survived by his son Warren A Cooksey Jr. (Karen) and his daughter Karen Austin (Thomas); five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Greg Cooksey (Arlene) and great grandson Noah Mashinski.
Warren had a lifelong love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing, and traveling. He and Betty shared many wonderful adventures together, exploring destinations across the United States and around the world – including Alaska, the Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Ireland, Costa Rica, Italy and Spain.
A talented woodcarver, Warren was an active member of the Southern Maryland Woodcarvers group. His craftsmanship was admired by many, especially his detailed carvings of fish, walking sticks and his pride and joy – the Maryland Blue Crab. This year, he entered his carved Maryland Blue Crab in the Charles County Fair, earning both First Place and Best in Show honors.
Warren loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and anyone eager to learn. He found joy in sharing his knowledge, stories, and skills with others.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. Warren's kindness, humor and creative spirit touched countless lives.
Our Lord has gained another Angel.
