John R. Cooksey, 92, of Pendleton, passed away on November 13, 2025. He was born on March 27, 1933, in Vicksburg, Indiana.
John graduated from Midland High School and served his country in the Army during the Korean War.
He is a retired skilled tradesman for the Delco-Remy Division of General Motors.
He and his wife rode their Honda Gold Wing motorcycles all over the United States. He was an excellent woodworker and a 50-year member of the Ovid Masonic Lodge.
John is survived by his daughter, Karen Cooksey; granddaughter, Kasey (Ethan Toombs) Cooksey; niece and nephew, Tambi Craig, and Todd Cooksey, as well as many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donetta Joyce Cooksey, whom he married August 8, 1953; daughter, Brenda J. Cooksey; parents, Paul and Lucille Cooksey; and his brother and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, 10:30 am - 11:30 am at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson, IN, followed by the service at 11:30 am.
A private burial will take place in the Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Ovid.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Brenda Cooksey Memorial Scholarship Fund through the South Madison Community Foundation or charity of choice. www.LooseCares.com.
