Ellen Theresa Feeney (Husselbeck), age 80, of Cohoes, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13th after a brief and courageous battle with multiple forms of cancer. She was the loving wife of the late Gary Wilson Feeney, who also passed away a month earlier. Ellen was the youngest child of the late Francis E. and Margaret G. Husselbeck; preceded in death by all her siblings Father Francis E. Husselbeck, Joseph A. Husselbeck and Sister Fran (Alice) Husselbeck. She is survived by her 3 children, eldest son Shawn Gary, middle son Shannon Patrick and daughter Kellie Kathleen and her husband Wayne Johnson; two grandsons (Zack & Frank), one granddaughter (Shannen), two great-grandsons (Emerson & Oliver), and one great-granddaughter (Elise); her niece (Judy) and nephews (Eric, Kurt & Kevin). Everyday she talked about the grandchildren, and her plans to see them, talk to them, and hear about their plans for the future; and so very proud of Katie Nedoroscik and Jolene Feeney - as she admired such strong women.
Ellen was a nurse for over 40 years at numerous hospitals from Buffalo General, Albany Stratton VA to facilities in the state of New Hampshire. Tirelessly she worked the 11-7 shift most of her life, and devoted her life to helping others. She especially loved working with the elderly, and listening to their stories while caring for them. Ellen loved music of all genres and always said "There is a song for everything in life!". She found solace in music and found simple solutions in life and would sing a tune for those that may have needed a little smile in their day.
Ellen was a devout Roman Catholic. She found peace and serenity in the Church. She loved the smell and a sacred space in churches, and always felt at home in the Church. She had a strong faith in Jesus and a special relationship with her religion. With her Rosary always near, and her Bible well-worn, she led by example with hopes many would follow the path of God. And her faith in God was in great display as she fought so hard in her battle with cancer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society or your local Animal Shelter.
