Ellen Elizabeth Mehegan

Ellen Elizabeth (Goss) Mehegan, 80, unexpectedly passed away on February 26, 2022, at INOVA Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg VA. She was born on June 13, 1941 in Boston MA, the daughter of John E. and Mary A. (Chiplik) Goss. Ellen graduated from Hyde Park High School (Boston MA) in 1959. In 1963, she married William David Mehegan, and together, they started a family at Walk Hill St in Boston in 1968. In 1973, they settled in Enfield CT, where they spent most of their lives. Ellen had a lengthy career working for Women's Specialty Retail Group in Enfield before retiring in 1998.
Ellen was an avid bowler, loved Boston sports and UConn Women's hoops, and listening/dancing to music. She also thoroughly enjoyed taking trips to the local casinos with friends and family. She had a special place in her heart for her husband, her children & their friends, and was a beloved member of the Enfield community for over 40 years. She survived cancer in 2001 and subsequently spent another 20+ years living her best life.
In addition to her parents, Ellen was predeceased by her husband, William "Bud" Mehegan, and a son, Stephen Mehegan. Surviving Ellen are her daughter, Linda Mehegan of Riverside CA; and her son, William Mehegan and his wife, Sheryl Haley of Lewes DE; and many wonderful nieces/nephews from the Bitz and Cassidy families. Also surviving Ellen, are her amazing granddaughters, Jade Torner and Cassidy Haley Mehegan.
Ellen's family will receive friends & family on Saturday, March 26th, from 1-3 PM at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. A private burial will follow at St Patrick's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society instead.
