Ellen Mooney Obituary
Ellen Mary Mooney, age 77, of Hudson, MI, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born on March 7, 1944 in New York City, the daughter of John and Katherine (Ryan) Feighery. On May 28, 1966, Ellen married Colman John Mooney (former Spouse) and he proceeded her in death on March 28, 2021. Ellen and family moved to Plantation, FL, in 1972, where she became a teacher and a well-known and respected coach winning multiple state and national championships. More importantly, she impacted 1,000s of young girls by pushing them to their limits and teaching them lessons they carried with them through life. After relocating to Hudson, Ellen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she served with the Alter Rosary Society.
Through it all, her ultimate joy was her family. Ellen is survived by her friend, Mary Lou Baglia; her children Cathleen (Dan) Havican of Palm Harbor, FL, Christopher (Carrie) Mooney of Broomfield, CO, John (Kimber) Mooney of Nolensville, TN; Brothers, Thomas (Nancy) Feighery of Katonah, NY, John Joseph (Grace) Feighery of Yonkers, NY, Kevin (Sharon) Feighery of Yonkers, NY; 9 grandchildren, Lindsey (Ross), Danny, Matthew, Megan, Madison, Michael, Mallory, Searcy, and Darby; one great-grandchild, Owen and Mary Lou's daughter Tracy and grandson, Tyler. She was proceeded in death by her parents, two brothers William Gerald Feighery and Francis Xavier Feighery, and Mary Lou's granddaughter Kingsley.Visitation for Ellen will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Eagle-Marry Funeral Home, Hudson, MI and from 10 AM until 10:45 on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, prior to Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Father Todd Koenigsknecht as celebrant. Burial will be held in Calvary cemetery, Hudson, MI at a later date.

We will always remember Ellen when she transferred both Kate and Chris to South Plantation High, and shared her coaching expertise with all of us. Whether standing on the sideline or sitting in the bleachers we always enjoyed hearing the tidbits of "information" or gossip she shared with us. Ellen was always a straight shooter who never "beat around the bushes" and this was one of the reasons we will never forget her, but always remember her fondly. Until we meet again...
