Lorelei Ellen Riggs Thornock, age 95, passed away peacefully June 12, 2025 in Santaquin, Utah with her daughter at her side. She was born August 14, 1929 in Meridian, Idaho to Theodore Clay and Alma Devona Warrick Riggs.
Ellen was raised in Boise, Idaho and graduated from Boise High School. She was crowned the winner of the Miss Payette Lake and Miss Oregon Trail beauty pageants in McCall, Idaho. She graduated from Dental Assistant school in San Francisco. She later earned a broker and real estate license and co-owned a successful company.
She met and married Rubon Thornock and became a mother to her daughter Kim Janet and dogs Binky and Susy. She loved all wildlife, birds - especially humming birds, fox and deer. She raised rabbits and chinchilla.
Ellen was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1963. She loved working on family history and attending the temple. She served in many callings and was called as a young women advisor at age 84. She always prayed for the leaders of the church and for our country.
Rubon and Ellen owned a cabin in McCall, Idaho and loved spending time there with family boating and snowmobiling. They moved to Gladstone, Oregon in 1979. Ellen loved Oregon almost as much as she loved her family. They moved to Utah in 2011 to be closer to family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Kirk Hunsaker of Santaquin; grandchildren, Chad (Sara) Hunsaker, Spring Lake, Lydia (Dustin) Mower, Payson, Russ (Misty) Hunsaker, Lehi, Tyler (Nicole) Hunsaker, Saratoga Springs, Kristin (Bryan) Wilson, Santaquin; 22 grandchildren; and a half-sister JoAnn Stewart. She was preceded in death by her husband just four short months ago, a great granddaughter Olivia Hunsaker, a great grandson Brooks Wilson, her parents and a baby brother Frank Riggs.
Funeral services will be held Friday June 20, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summit Ridge 4th ward chapel, 591 Summit Ridge Parkway, Santaquin, Utah. Family will greet friends Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will follow at the Santaquin City Cemetery.
