Ellen “Tutter” Newcomb Gordon, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and woman of faith, peacefully passed away on December 30, 2025 at the age of 78. Tutter lived a full and meaningful life, marked by her unwavering devotion to her family, her community, and her faith in God.
A woman of strength, grace, and compassion. Tutter was a dedicated hairdresser for over 50 years, touching the lives of many through her work and her kind spirit. She was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Chase City, Virginia, where she found joy in serving her community and living out her Christian values.
Tutter was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Judson Newcomb, Sr. and Pauline Huss Newcomb. She leaves behind her loving husband of 56 years, Amos Gordon, and their daughter, Ann-Dru Gordon Scruggs (Eric), along with two beautiful grandchildren, Aubrie Ellen Scruggs and Wyatt Garrison Scruggs. Tutter is also survived by her brother, Harold Judson Newcomb, Jr. (Susan), as well as several nephews and one niece.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.
Her service will be held at First Baptist Church, Chase City, VA on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends and family one hour before the service in the church.
