Ellis Hill Beasley, born on January 8, 1936 in Raleigh, NC, went to be with Jesus in his eternal home on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Ellis is survived by his wife, Sylvia Farmer Beasley, his son Ellis Timothy Beasley and daughter-in-law Deborah Beasley, his grandchildren, Donna Beasley Massey (Eric) and Ellis (Taylor) Beasley, and great-granddaughter, Mayakala Dang, and beloved family and friends across North Carolina.
Ellis was predeceased by his first wife, Peggy Gosnell Beasley, his youngest son, Ted Derrick Beasley, and granddaughter, Danielle Thompson. Through marriage, Ellis is survived by stepchildren Tammy Smolan (Mark) and family, Ken Welsh (Stephanie) and family, Brad Welsh (Lynne) and family.
Ellis was born and raised in Raleigh and graduated from Hugh Morson High School. After his high school career, Ellis felt called to service and enlisted as a Marine. He served his country until he was honorably discharged four years later. After his time as a Marine, he served the Raleigh Fire Department and his community for 31 years. He completed his Raleigh Fire Department chapter as a stellar Battalion Chief.
His dedication and commitment to service and community encouraged his son, Tim, to follow in his footsteps. And firefighting became a love that they always shared. After Ellis retired, they fostered their relationship by working together to build and operate a Fire Extinguisher company that thrived many years and spanned the Triangle area. Ellis could tell you floorplans of so many buildings that you thought he built the city himself, Ellis was passionate about several hobbies including woodworking, fishing, and running his 360 degree turn mower. Ellis's penchant for fishing is something he enjoyed with both of his sons on many of their trips to Emerald Isle, a home away from home. They shared many fond memories and stories over the years from their Emerald Isle Beach home.
Ellis was a cancer-survivor whose tenacity and strength only flourished as he battled the epic disease. As a survivor, he came through with a deeper appreciation for life. Ellis lived the rest of his life grateful for a future - loving everyday and everyone he met.
In 2008, with a new lease on life, Ellis met his current (second) wife Sylvia at a concert held at Louisburg College. They're relationship blossomed over the next year, and in 2009, surrounded by family, they embarked upon the start of their loving, thoughtful, Christ-centered 16-year marriage. Together, Ellis and Syliva shared a love for Crossroads Fellowship Church where they were involved in a deeply enriching and supportive Sunday school family along with a precept ministry group. Crossroads Fellowship was where Ellis and Sylvia spent time studying God's word, enjoying the company of fellow Christians, encouraging peers, and sweet friends while serving God.
Ellis lived, loved and laughed as he walked with Jesus until his final day.
