Funeral services for Mr. Ellis Charleston, of
Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1 PM at the Rice Hill Baptist Church, 2706 Moore Station Road in Dublin. Interment will follow in the Moore Station Road Cemetery.
Ellis Charleston was born on Tuesday, May 16th, 1967, as the youngest of six children. He was born and raised in Laurens County, Georgia. He attended West Laurens High School, where he met the mother of his children, LeeAnn Duberry. He began working at an early age and worked up until his health declined in June of 2015. Zeigler Painting Company was his last place of employment.
He grew in Rice Hill Baptist Church, where he was baptized and introduced to the Lord, as a child. He briefly strayed away but returned as a devoted member later in 2018.
He loved the Lord and enjoyed being a humbled servant. Ellis looked forward to getting dressed in his Sunday's best and being punctual to unlock the church and greet his fellow church members; especially Pastor Crockett and First Lady Crockett, whom he thought highly of. Deacon Ellis always put God first, with his family immediately after. He took pride in fathering and mentoring his children and grandkids whom he would often call "puppies". Last, but not least, playing checkers was his daily enjoyment. He would take his board around in his truck and look for a good challenge, with whoever, wherever. He was also known to some as "Deacon Elmo".
He was ordained as a deacon and remained a loyal and faithful member until he transitioned at Savannah Memorial hospital on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Ellis was preceded in death by his mother, Ms. Doretha Thomas-Charleston, his brother, Reverend Wilson Thomas, nephew, Rico Griffin, and close friend, Pamela Burden.
He leaves to cherish his memories and love: his children, Ellis Tyrone Charleston, Shannon(Terrance) Timmons, and Sa'Vaya (Stacy) Johnson, grandchildren- Ka'Rethya Charleston, Wi'Tyreon Charleston, Le'Zoria Timmons, and Marleigh Charleston; siblings, James L. Laborn, Eddie Lee (Angela) Griffin, Shirley (Harold) Smith, and Nathaniel(Bridgette) Charleston, bonus children, Lindy(Kelvin) Evans, Jamica Stephens and Sheronica Stephens, bonus grandchildren, Ta'Meyiah Davis, Jaliyah Evans, Kelvin Evans Jr., Jamekiya Abraham, Cordazha Dawson, Antwon Stephens, Adolphus Foster, Saige Stephens, and Kelis Lawrence, bonus great-grandchildren, London Stephens, and Liam Chancey. Ellis was known as "Uncle Dude" to Larisa, Shemekia (Leonard), Vanessa (Christopher), Antonio, Tomika (Joshua), Bernard, Jarvis, Marina, Jeremiah, Sabrina, Gregory (Angel), Emanuel, Elliot, and Angelique (Gary). His warm smile and humor will be truly missed by several other relatives, church members, classmates, and community members.
