James "Ellis" Stamper, age 81, of Dayton, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family on June 18, 2025. He was born July 25, 1943 in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Roy and Zetta Stamper. In addition to his parents, Ellis was preceded in death by his wife, Melisa Stamper; brothers and sisters: Ray Stamper, Dewey Stamper, Roy Stamper Jr, Charlene Rogers and Judy Stamper.
Ellis is survived by his children: David Asher (Nakina), Ashley Stafford (Kyle) and James Stamper Jr; grandchildren: Natalie, Olivia and Ellis; sister, Delores McCullah; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ellis retired in 2011 from Harrison Township. He always treated everyone like they were family and never knew a stranger. Ellis was a very humble man who loved the Lord. He enjoyed working on cars, porch sitting with a good cup of coffee and watching old westerns. Most of all, Ellis loved spending time with his family and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00-7:00 pm on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton.
