Ellsworth Lee Smith, age 83, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. He was born on December 4, 1942, to the late Milton and Mary (Thomas) Smith.
He married the love of his life, Gloria Smith, on April 18, 1964. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2016.
Ellsworth served honorably in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he worked as a clerk for the CSX Railroad.
A proud conservative, Ellsworth had a deep admiration for President Donald Trump and enjoyed engaging in political discussion. He was a member of AMVETS and attended Rudolph Church. In his free time, he loved watching crime shows, listening to conservative talk radio, and enjoying music-especially Elvis Presley and Boz Scaggs.
Ellsworth especially cherished the years he spent traveling with his wife Gloria in their RV, making many memorable trips to Florida. These adventures were among his happiest moments and remained close to his heart.
Ellsworth will be remembered for his loyalty, strong convictions, love of country, and devotion to his family and faith.
He is survived by his loving children, Gary Smith, Donna Smith, Sherry (Tim) Purdy, Kenneth Smith, 2 brothers Thomas Smith, Robert (Sharon) LaPierre, cherished grandchildren Amanda (Mike) Schwanbeck, Adam Purdy, Matthew Purdy, Dylan Smith, great-grandchildren Addison, Annelise, Sawyer, Audra and Olivia.
