Elma Jean Winn

Elma Jean Winn of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 19, 2012, at the Laurels of Charlottesville, after a brief illness, where she was affectionately known as "Winnie". Jean was born in Campbells, Virginia, a daughter of the late Alice Meeks Winn and Mike Winn. Although never married, she loved children and babysat well into her late years. She attended First Christian Church until she became a resident at the Laurels and there attended the services on Sunday mornings. At First Christian Church she was a member of the JOY class and Young at Heart. She is survived by one sister, Charlotte Stoneburner; one niece, Anne S. Davis and husband, Bernie; two nephews, Paul Stoneburner and wife, Linda, and Mike Stoneburner and wife, Judy; also great-nieces and great-nephews and numerous cousins on both sides of the family. A special thanks to the staff of the Laurels for their care and compassion for Jean during her residency there. There will be a graveside service at Riverview Cemetery 3 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2012, officiated by Mr. Jeff Villio. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Charlottesville Albemarle Rescue Squad, P.O.
