Elmer Daniel Fleer Sr. was born April 19, 1930 in Gerald, MO to John and Amanda (nee' Bueker) Fleer. He passed away Monday, September 8, 2025 in Washington, MO at the age of 95 years.
Elmer grew up in Gerald, MO and attended Buffalo Ridge Grade School. He graduated from New Haven High School. Elmer was united in marriage to Eleanor Webber on June 2, 1951 at Zion United Church of Christ in Union, MO. The couple made their home in Washington, MO and their marriage was blessed with two sons.
Elmer enjoyed a successful career as a store manager for Kroger Grocery Stores for many years. He retired from Kroger Grocery Store after many years of dedicated service to the company. In earlier years, Elmer was a member and former President of the Washington Jaycees. He was also a member of the Washington Optimist Club, Washington Rotary, and Elks Lodge #1559 in Washington. He was a longtime, dedicated member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Washington.
Elmer was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Eleanor Fleer (nee' Webber); his parents, John and Amanda (nee' Bueker) Fleer; parents-in-law, Carl and Wilma (nee' Zahrndt) Webber; and his sister, Nelda Wesselschmidt (late husband Milford).
He is survived by two sons: Dave Fleer and wife Sandra of Washington and Daryl Fleer and wife Jane of Washington; four grandchildren: Scott Fleer (Christine), Kate Baker (Ben), Bryan Fleer (Amber), and Kim Bratton (Earl Jr.); five great-grandchildren: Mazie, Lexi, Ellie, Stanley, and Miley; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Washington, MO with Rev. Kurt Blaufuss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation for 95-year-old Elmer Fleer will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's UCC.
