The family would like to invite you to Elmer's "Celebration of Life" at Chili Corners on Saturday, April 19th from 3 PM – 7 PM.
ELMER A. REDIG, JR., age 81 of Spencer, WI peacefully passed away at Three Oaks Health Center, in Marshfield, WI, with his daughters by his side on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
Elmer Arvin Redig, Jr. was born on March 18, 1944 in Spokeville/Spencer, WI to Elmer Sr. and Mary (Buss) Redig. He grew up in Spokeville and completed his education at Loyal, WI. He married Marilyn A. Brecht from Loyal. Together they farmed until 1976.
After moving off the farm, Elmer built his family a home east of Loyal on Meridian Avenue where they raised their four daughters. Elmer was always known to work hard to support his family to allow Marilyn to stay home and raise their girls.
He enjoyed his early years at O.W. Trindal and farming. Elmer then found his love for truck driving for an amazing family-owned business, Roehl Transport. After years of being over the road Elmer then took a position as Midwest Region Representative & Fleet Manager for Roehl. He enjoyed his work and was very dedicated to all 31 years at Roehl Transport.
Elmer enjoyed deer hunting with his daughters, grandchildren, family, and friends. Many stories and memories were created. He also enjoyed time with family/friends playing cards, board games and dice. His favorite card game, as we all know, was Sheepshead.
After retiring, Elmer enjoyed putzing in his garage, woodworking, and butchering. His all-time favorite hobby was smoking any type of meat he could get his hands on.
Anyone who knew Elmer might know he may have liked to frequently stop at a few local bars. Good ol' Stony Beach, Fraverts, Steinhaus, Little Club, RT's, Mell & Mary's, Mr. G's, Chili Corners and definitely My Brothers Place. Elmer was also known for his talent for fixing or repairing items with the help of some lucky pucky and electrical/duct tape. That's all a guy really needs. Plus, he would always remind you it's okay to have extra parts when assembling a project. They always send extra pieces.
He will be deeply missed by his four daughters: Charity (Dave) Happe of Chili, Charlotte (Bill) Tarter of Edgar, Charlene (Mike) Fulwiler of Loyal, and Cherilyn Redig (Jeremy Martin) of Chili; 13 grandchildren: Jenaya and Dylan Paun, Tanner and Westin Happe, Taiyah, Calvin, Blake and Jade Tarter, Jennah (Matt) Stark, Logan and Emileigh Fulwiler, Alik and Taylor Martin; 3 great-grandchildren: Brooklyn and Mason Stark, Caysen Sova; his loving siblings: Donna Bauer of Loyal, Lorna Mueller, Arvin Redig, Sharin Engevold and Al Redig, all of Spencer, Darlene (Jody) Laib and Joyce Davis of Texas; nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends;.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, twin sons at birth and three siblings Ruby Waldhauser, Orin Redig and Cheryl Redig; his former spouse Marilyn Redig; and his beloved dog Mikey "man's best friend."
Elmer's chuckle and belly laughs were contagious, along with his smile. His daughters would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of those at Three Oaks Health Center of Marshfield for all THEIR love, care, and support that they provided for their father.
"Roll them dice. Shuffle those cards and you better not be mauering!"
