Elnora Pike

Elnora E. (Deschene) Pike, 96 years old, passed away September 28, 2024 peacefully at Rockland Hospital Hospice in Rockland, Maine.
Elnora was born December 31, 1927 In Grand Falls, NB, Canada. She was the daughter of Edward And Mary (Morrissey) Deschene. Besides her parents she was pre-deceased by her husband, Leander E. Pike of Woodland, Maine and her son Bart L. Pike, Sr of Augusta, Georgia, Granddaughter Amanda E. Knight of Richmond, Vermont, sister May (Deschene) Bourgoin of Grand Falls, NB. Canada, brother Ervin Deschene of Sackville, NB. Canada and brother Arnold Deshene of Presque Isle, Maine.
She is survived by Gayle (David) Knight of Jefferson, Maine, Leann (Robert) Stites of Thornton, Colorado, Karla Pike of Las Vegas, Nevada and Bret Pike of Thornton, Colorado. Grandchildren Anthony T. Tarr, Travis L. Tarr and Christopher O. Tarr of Colorado, Trista C. (Jaimeson) Glenn and Aaron Philbrick of Las Vegas Nevada, Samantha Pike and Bart Pike of Augusta, Georgia, Amber Lynn (Matt) Barnett of Atlanta, Georgia. Great grandchildren Austen Phibrick, Tad Pushard and Hope Glenn of Las Vegas, Alyssa Pushard of North Carolina, Kaitlyn Hunter of Arvada, Colorado, Benjamin,and Kacie Lynn Tarr of Bailey Colorado, Tony Tarr Jr of Bailey,Colorado, Jackson S Tarr of Aurora, Colorado and Carlanna Tarr of Thornton, Colorado, Kastle Knight of Richmond, Vermont, Hailee and Addyson Beard of Augusta, Georgia. Great Great Grandchildren Aurielle, ????, and Leon Philbrick of Las, Vegas, Nevada, and Kamiah Tarr of Bailey, Colorado. And close family friend Trent Burgay and wife Jasmin, sons, Ethan, Evan and Haydon Burgay of Caribou, Maine.
Elnora was born and raised in Grand Falls, N.B. Canada. She graduated from Grand Falls High School and became a licensed school teacher in Victoria County Schools, NB. December 27, 1948 she married Leander Pike from Woodland, Maine and moved to Woodland where they raised their family. She returned to teaching at Holy Rosary Grade School in Caribou, Maine in 1965. In the late '60's she was District Manager for World Book Encyclopedia throughout Aroostook County, Maine.
After Mr. Pikes death in 1975, she also worked at Converse Rubber Company, Aroostook Mental Health Center as an Outreach Worker at the Christopher Home for Boys, Burrell's Clipping Service and was District Manager for World Book Encyclopedia throughout Aroostook County, Maine.
Elnora married Armand Bourgoin of Caribou Maine and moved to Caribou in 1981. After retirement she spent winters in St. Petersburg, Florida and worked part time for S.A.D. 122 Holy Family School. She was an active member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, CR, RC and earned a Merit of Honor Award for 25 years of service. She was a past member of the Business and Professional Women, Life Member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Elnora was a devout Christian and served many hours volunteering for Holy Rosary church.
She was also a skilled seamstress and dressed her three little girls in hand sewn clothing throughout their grade school years. Adept at drawing and crafts her school rooms were beautiful decorated and her love for making beautiful things is still evident in the gifts she made for her family. Although she loved her family and teaching, her greatest love was country music and dancing. She could be found dancing the night away at the VFW in Caribou, Maine and later on the dance floors of her retirement community in St. Petersburg, Florida. Her lively sprit and incessant chatter will be missed.
