With profound sadness we say goodbye to Eloise Kathleen Lobner (Shepard), age 77, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, who passed away on May 17th, 2025, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.
Eloise was born on October 12, 1947, in Berlin, WI to Stanley and Margaret (Briggs) Shepard.
After starting her family, she graduated from MSTC with an associate's degree in accounting while a full-time parent running a busy household. She went on to work as a secretary for American Family Insurance, using her income to pay for her children's college expenses, giving them a debt free start to life.
A devoted catholic, she found great strength in her faith and was active in her parish community. She chaired home and school meetings and took pride in being a member of the St. Monica's Church Group, which she chaired for a session. She offered her time and heart to causes close to her soul as her humble and generous nature emulated the tenets of her faith.
Eloise also had a gift for bringing people together. Whether she was hosting Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter gatherings, organizing events, or simply welcoming friends and family into her home, her warmth and generosity created lasting memories.
She found joy in wintering in Florida, where she embraced sunshine, ocean and serenity, often spending her time golfing, reading books, and photographing the beauty around her. She loved the quiet moments, too, feeding the birds, playing card games with friends, and spending quality time with her dogs.
Eloise is survived by her husband, Dennis Lobner; children, Christopher (Richel) Lobner, Daniel Lobner, Adam Lobner, and Nicholas Lobner; sisters, Yvonne Friday, Janice Hall, Christine (Peter) Beggs; grandchildren, Zach, Travis, Nathaniel, Jason, John, Javon, Jasmine, Ashley, Dominic, Lauren, Isabelle, Blake, and Elise; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Margaret; stepfather, Frank Ottenberg; mother-in-law, Margaret Lobner; father-in-law, Edgar Lobner; and brothers-in-law, Arlyn Friday and Vernon Hall.
Many tears are shed as we say goodbye to this wonderful soul, but we are comforted in the knowledge of knowing she is now in heaven with God.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Saint Philip's Catholic Church in Rudolph, WI, at 11:00am. Visitation will be held from 9:00am until the time of service. Rev. Steven Weller will preside. Eloise will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
