Elrose Ann Toman Kresta
August 29, 1942 to March 25, 2025
Elrose Ann Kresta, 83, of East Bernard, TX, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. She was born to Steve and Norma Toman on August 29, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas. Elrose married the love of her life, James W. Kresta, in Nada, Texas on September 26, 1959, and they shared nearly 57 wonderful years together. Elrose cherished being surrounded by her family, especially spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved playing Bingo, cards and taking cruises with her daughters where she delighted in meeting new friends in the casino. Elrose treasured the time she spent visiting with her brothers, sisters and in-laws. She also found great joy in working in her garden and tending to her beautiful flowers.
Elrose is survived by her daughters, Brenda Kresta, Becky & Bubba Wilcox, and Kristi & Tony Magaro. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Elisha Middleton & David, Kayla Walbush & Hunter, William & Taelor Wilcox, Justin & Megan Wilcox, Brittney & Aaron Stock, Madison, Isabella and Anthony James Magaro. Her great-grandchildren are Betty O’Neal, Avery and Gemma Wilcox, Peyton Sliva, Jackson Wilcox, Ellasyn Miliff, Judd and Briggs Wilcox, Tinley, Tripp and Todd Stock. Other surviving family includes her siblings Marilyn Iosue, Charles Toman, Carolyn Grimet, and James Toman. Elrose is preceded in death by her husband, James, her parents and brothers, Steve and Johnny Toman.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 31 starting at 5 pm with a rosary recited at 7 pm at Wharton Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, April 1 at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard, officiated by Father Charles E. Otsiwah. Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross Mausoleum in East Bernard. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons and great-grandsons, William, Justin, Aaron, Anthony, Hunter, Jackson, Judd, Tripp, Briggs and Todd. Also serving as honorary pall bearers are all the nephews of Jim & Elrose Kresta.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Amirali Popatia and his staff, as well as the staff of Oak Bend Medical Center for the compassionate and devoted care they provided to our Mom.
