Elvie "Jeannette" Witherow, 98, formerly of Ellport, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Wexford.
Born in Ellwood City on October 15, 1927, Jeannette was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elvie Richardson Garmon. She married Raymond C. Witherow on July 4, 1947 and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2021. A 1946 graduate of Lincoln High School, Jeannette worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. She was an active member of the First Church of God of Ellwood City and later also attended Lillyville Church of God. Jenannette enjoyed reading her Bible and spending time with her family.
Jeannette is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert R. and Paula Witherow of North Sewickley Township, two granddaughters, Christie Bukowski and Dave Brown of Ellwood City and Heather and Ryan McUmber of Pittsburgh, three great-granddaughters, Kaylie and Brandon Yingling, Alexandra Bukowski and her fiancé, Brandon Peak and Kennedy Brown, a nephew, Michael and Heidi Garmon, and a niece, Susan Garmon.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Jeannette was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Garmon.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, October 22nd from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 8:00 PM with Rev. Tom O'Brien.
Interment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
Memorial donations can be made in Jeannette’s name to Club Hope, 113 Collins Rd., Ellwood City, PA 16117.
