Emelda D. Foret, 85, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband and daughters.
Emelda was a native of Gheens, LA, and a resident of Raceland, LA.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Raceland, LA, from 9:00 a.m. until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., with burial in the church cemetery.
Emelda is survived by her loving husband of thirty-four years, Frank Foret; daughters, Cheryl Matherne (Gerald), Carolyn Unger (Terry), and Rosalyn Brondum (Ricky); stepchildren, Stacy Cheramie and Frank Foret Jr.; grandchildren, Brandi Matherne Hicks (Ira), Colby Unger (Courtney), Kailey Housend (Gavin), Derek Brondum (Alex), and Amber Fanguy (Ben); step-grandchildren, Shari Kenney (Patrick), Lacey Cheramie, Mark Cheramie, and Necol Cheramie; great-grandchildren, Halo, Nova, and Malakai Hicks, Brinley Housend, and Sofia Fanguy; step-great-grandchildren, Sullivan Kenney, Chandler Kreiter, Marcus and Markel Ingram, Ja'coby Thibodeaux, Jordyn and Mar'k Cheramie, and Elijah Chisley.
Emelda was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred Dufrene and Felicie Fonseca Dufrene; brothers, Hartward Dufrene ("Shnook"), Hubert Dufrene, and Herbert Dufrene; and her grandson, Eric Matherne.
Emelda was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, and gardening. She was a kindhearted Christian woman who loved the Lord. She was devoted to Mary and the Rosary, which she recited often in her prayers. She will be greatly missed.
