Emelia "Mia" Yencha, 18, died tragically Thursday, March 23, 2023 at UPMC Carlisle.
Born in West Allis, Wisconsin, she is the daughter of Andrew Yencha and Heather Couch.
Mia was a Senior at Carlisle High School where, after graduation, she had hoped to pursue a career in animal welfare, wild and domestic, something she was very passionate about. She was also a member of the high school orchestra, where she played viola.
Mia was employed at Michael's and the Carlisle Small Animal Clinic and volunteered at Fury Friends Network, Boiling Springs, a local cat rescue. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends, hiking and listening to music.
In addition to her parents, Mia is survived by her brother: Ian Yencha and her paternal grandmother: Bernadine Yencha.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather: Andrew G. Yencha and her maternal grandparents: Calvin and Irene Couch.
Relatives and friends are invited to her celebration of life service 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, where the family will greet guests from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. and after the service concludes. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
